About Joe Storlien
Dr. Joe Storlien is an avid gardener and a soil scientist by training. He received his Ph.D. in Soil Science from Texas A&M University and is an Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at the College of St. Benedict & St. John's University. Dr. Storlien loves chatting about gardening, providing service as a Stearns County Master Gardener, and always looks forward to being outside and getting dirty.
Mission
Storlien Soil Solutions believes gardens are designed to be a place of enjoyment, wonder, and function. We are dedicated to designing gardens that are horticulturally inspiring, environmentally responsible, and ecologically rich. Our aim is to capture the spirit of natural landscapes and thoughtfully integrate it into residential garden settings.
Our designs bring a hybrid approach to relying heavily on native plants while occasionally incorporating select, non-invasive ornamental species to create distinctive, artful compositions that are both resilient and well-suited to Minnesota’s challenging growing conditions.
